Warning to Anti-Mashriqi Writers and Speakers
There are some writers and speakers who have deliberately tried to defame Allama Mashriqi and have manipulated and twisted his role in bringing freedom to Pakistan and the sub-continent. They have ignored the fact that Mashriqi created the Khaksar Tehrik (in 1930) solely to rebuild the nation and liberate the people from foreign clutches.
By the late 1930s, the Khaksar Tehrik (also known as the Khaksar Movement) had emerged as the largest well-organized party in India. Mashriqi’s efforts had paved the way for the independence. But the rulers at the time vigorously tried to crush the Khaksars and during the process, Mashriqi remained in jail for many years. Hundreds of the Khaksars were killed and thousands were thrown in jails, enduring rigorous imprisonment, including life sentences. Indeed Mashriqi and the Khaksars’ role in guiding the nation towards freedom was unparalleled.
There are a number of examples which show that the writers have twisted or even ignored Mashriqi’s and the Khaksars’ role towards independence. For instance, to defame Mashriqi, some writers and speakers have falsely alleged Rafiq Sabir Mazangavi, who attacked Jinnah in 1943, to be a Khaksar. This allegation is made despite the fact that the judge (Justice Blagden) of the Bombay High Court rejected the evidence presented in regards to Rafiq Sabir Mazangavi being a Khaksar. Barrister Akbar Peerbhoy, Quaid-e-Azam’s nephew, in his book, Jinnah Faces An Assassin, referred to the proceedings of the court, in which the judge clearly stated in his verdict that there was no evidence to prove that Rafiq Sabir Mazangavi was a Khaksar. Thus, there is no justification in naming Rafiq Sabir Mazangavi to be a Khaksar.
Mashriqi was one of the greatest statesmen ever born. He extended unrivaled services to the nation. His life is full of givings and sacrifice and he abandoned the life of ease and comfort for his countrymen, using politics only as a means of serving the nation. It is sad and disheartening to see that anti-Mashriqi writers have denied Mashriqi’s role in the freedom movement and in the creation of Pakistan. They have sacrificed honesty for vested interests. This is a clear injustice not only to the history of the nation, but also to future generations. Under the circumstances, we, the family of Allama Mashriqi, have no choice left but to issue this warning: anything found to be twisted, concocted, or wrongly associated with Mashriqi or his family shall be liable to a lawsuit for defamation and damages. We hereby warn writers, speakers, etc. not to twist Mashriqi’s role in the history of Pakistan and the contributions of Allama Mashriqi and the Khaksar Tehrik in the freedom movement as a whole.
