BOOK ON ALLAMA MASHRIQI & DR. AKHTAR
HAMEED KHAN LAUNCHED On October 25, 2003 IN NEW YORK

We are pleased to announce that a book on
two great personalities of the 20th century, Allama Mashriqi
and Dr. Akhtar Hameed Khan has been launched. Allama Mashriqi
was founder of the Khaksar Tehrik, the foundation of which was
laid in 1930 in Lahore to bring freedom to India. Dr. Akhtar
Hameed Khan was a founder of the Orangi Pilot Project in
Karachi that has received world recognition for poverty
alleviation.
The book has been published under the
title, Allama Mashriqi & Dr. Akhtar Hameed Khan: Two
Legends of Pakistan and was launched in New York, USA on
October 25, 2003. The author, Mr. Nasim Yousaf, is a grandson
of Mashriqi and a nephew of Dr. Khan. He spent over seven
years (of long hours) conducting research for his book. In
addition, as a member of the family, his knowledge of these
stalwarts makes this book the most authentic biography that
has ever been published on these two giant personalities of
Pakistan.
On this occasion, a simple ceremony was
held at the residence of Mr. Yousaf and professionals from
various backgrounds attended the ceremony. The ceremony was
kept simple on purpose, maintaining the traditions set by
Allama Mashriqi and Dr. Khan who both led simple lives. The
speakers, enlightened the audience about the book and the life
and times of Allama Mashriqi and Dr. Khan. The author’s views
were also read on the occasion. The attendees took keen
interest in the book. The audience not only well appreciated
many years of research and time that Mr. Yousaf has put in to
produce this book, but also greatly appreciated the services
done by these outstanding patriots to the Pakistani nation.
The attendees of the ceremony asked many questions about these
personalities, which of course, were answered by the author.

Mashriqi & Dr. Akhtar Hameed Khan: Two Legends of
Pakistan:
Allama Mashriqi was an eminent
mathematician and scientist and a renowned scholar who broke
records at Punjab and Cambridge Universities. He was one of
the founding fathers of Pakistan and the founder of the
Khaksar Movement; he played a vital role in the independence
of Indo-Pakistan. The first part of this book is an eye
opener, as Mashriqi’s grandson reveals facts from Pakistan’s
history that are unknown to many.
Dr. Akhtar Hameed Khan was a scholar, a
world-renowned social scientist, and the founding father of
the Pakistan Academy for Rural Development (Now Bangladesh
Academy for Rural Development) and the Orangi Pilot Project in
Karachi. His projects acclaimed global recognition and are

Author’s Demands??
The Author made a declaration at the
ceremony that he is sending this book to the President and the
Prime Minister of Pakistan so that they can read about the
life and times of Mashriqi and let the nation know of the role
of our heroes in the independence movement. He is also taking
this opportunity to remind them of the long outstanding
demands of Mashriqi’s family, his supporters, and the Khaksars
to establish the following without much loss of time.
1) Ichhra, where
Mashriqi started his movement in 1930, should be renamed after
him and a monument should be built at his grave. Punjab
University should be named after Allama Mashriqi.
2) A research academy
should be formed to conduct complete research on Mashriqi and
his Khaksar Movement.
3) All Khaksar materials
should be collected from the public, government departments,
the India Office (U.K.), and historical resources in India.
Material on the Khaksar Tehrik should be made accessible for
everyone.
4) A monument should be
erected in Lahore at the site of the massacre of March 19,
1940.
5) National media should
be unbiased toward Mashriqi’s role in the independence
movement. Television and radio media should allocate special
time to explain the life & times of Mashriqi.
6) Mashriqi's life and
times should be made known to the public. Funds for making a
film on his life should be allocated.
7) An official biography
should be published. Annual seminars should be held on
Mashriqi’s life and times.
The author further says that the purpose
of sending this book to the head of the state and government
and politicians is to remind them that whomever and wherever
we are today, that is because of people like Mashriqi and the
Khaksars, who came together to liberate India from foreign
rule. So we must not forget the heroes of our nation. Those
nations that forget their champions and martyrs are doomed.
The author also put forth the following
demands for Dr. Akhtar Hameed Khan:
1) Orangi Town,
Karachi.should be named after Dr Akhtar Hameed Khan.
2) A monument should be
erected in Orangi Town.
3) His works and
speeches should be made available in various languages so that
people in foreign
countries can benefit from his ideas and
techniques.
4) We should ensure the
continuation of annual seminars on his life and times.
5) An official biography
