Khaksar Tehrik's Support of Earthquake Victims

The Khaksar Tehrik provided support for victims of the earthquake in Pakistan in October of 2005.

October 12, 2005:

The President of Pakistan's (Pervez Musharraf) web site states:

“Khaksar Tehreek: The Khaksar Tehreek has dispatched 15 trucks carrying relief goods from Lahore, Gujranwala, Phalia and Rwp. A group of Khaksar activists also been sent to Abbottabad to take part in the relief activities.”

October 13, 2005:

On October 13, 2005, The Dawn reports:

“…Khaksar Tehrik [and others]…have established camps on the Royal Road, Empire Road, Bakrani Road and Bank Square.

A camp has also been set up at the Larkana DCO office…

The Larkana district PPP and the Khaksar Tehrik dispatched two trucks on Wednesday loaded with the items of daily use to the affected areas.”

October 24, 2005:

On October 24, 2005, The Daily Times reports:

“Khaksar Tehrik: The Khaksar Tehrik has established an earthquake relief camp in Abbottabad and has started to build a tent village in earthquake-affected areas. The organisation urged people to donate more tents and warm beddings.”

November 3, 2005:

On November 3, 2005, The News reports:

"Khaksar Tehrik dispatches 250 trucks

By our correspondent

LARKANA: Dr Sabiha Arshad, chief of the women wing of Khaksar Tehrik Pakistan, told newsman on Wednesday that about 250 trucks of relief goods collected from all over the country have been dispatched to the quake-hit areas. Khaksar Tehrik volunteers were also working with different NGOs and relief organizations in the NWFP and Azad Kashmir, she said. She added the rehabilitation process will take a long time therefore people must continue their donations of tents, blankets, food items and other goods.”

On November 11, 2005, The Daily Times reports:

“Khaksar Tehrik to set up tent village in Abbottabad: The Khaksar Tehrik will set up ‘Allama Al-Mashraqi Tent Village’ for 500 families of earthquake survivors at Abbottabad, APP quoted Khaksar Tehrik Chief Hameeduddin Al-Mashraqi.”
